Zeta’s first youth club was established in the 1950’s. Participation in the club quickly gained popularity leading to the division of the club into three groups.
The Pearlettes - Ages 4-8
The Amicettes - Ages 9-13
The Archonettes - Ages 14-18
In 1991, the Pearlette Club was organized under the sponsorship of Alpha Gamma Zeta Chapter, New Orleans, Louisiana (Southern Region) as a pilot program for one year. At the 1992 Southern Regional Conference, Alpha Gamma Zeta, Lambda Zeta, and Delta Upsilon Zeta Chapters were recognized for outstanding success with the new youth club. The 74th Boule’ held in July 1994 in Orlando, Florida, the national body officially adopted the Pearlettes as a national youth affiliate of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. In January 1996, the National Executive Board agreed to extend the age range to include ages 4-8 for this youth affiliate.
The Amicettes were first organized in 1955 for the daughters and granddaughters of the Amicae Club in Washington, D. C. Soror Esther C. Peyton of Beta Zeta Chapter of Washington, D. C. sponsored the project, and the Amicettes were the only group for several years. This youth affiliate was adopted as the second official youth organization of the sorority in 1970.
First organized in the 1940s under several names, the Archonette Club is an organized youth affiliate sponsored by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. In 1968, the Archonette Club was adopted as the national senior-high youth affiliate for the sorority. The Archonette Club will help young ladies grow culturally, socially, and educationally. A project may be of service to an individual, group, or community and develop the young ladies’ special skills at the same time.
