
From inception, women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated have embraced scholarship by encouraging & achieving the highest standards in academic excellence. Through scholarships funded by its chapters, Zeta has awarded over $4 million dollars in scholarships to young women matriculating to an accredited 4-year university.
Remaining steadfast to the academic legacy of excellence our founders established over 100+ years ago. The Rutherford County Zetas annually host an event to celebrate and present the recipients of the Shannon L. Martin Scholarship with a $1,000 scholarship each.

at The View at the Fountains
on April 11th, 2026.

Shannon L. Martin is a triumphant member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Shannon ignited her light of Zeta in 2001 in Nashville, TN. Shannon was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. An exemplary educator, Shannon impacted and touched the lives of many children as a teacher in both the Rutherford County, TN and Huntsville, AL school systems.
Following in the footsteps of many great Zetas before her, Shannon not only touched the lives children but the men and women in the community through her dedication of service to others. Shannon’s shining spirit and smiling face could always be found lending a helping hand to all those she encountered. Shannon was a charter member of the Sigma Chi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Rutherford County Zetas.
Honoring her scholastic & service legacy Sigma Chi Zeta established the 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐋. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 endowment to assist female high school graduates living in Rutherford County who will attend a four-year college or university with the expenses associated to the pursuit of a higher education.
